SV2 Spring Gathering: The Power of Community Voices in Changemaking

Join us for our virtual Spring Gathering: The Power of Community Voices in Changemaking on Tuesday, May 4th 6:30-8:00pm. In breakouts, we’ll have some light catchup with each other, followed by listening to the moving stories of some of our inspiring social impact leaders who regularly embed community voices in their ‘way of being’, work and impact. Confirmed speakers so far are: Nasir Qadree, Founder and Managing Partner, Zeal Capital Partners, Dr. Linda Prieto, Executive Director, Upward Scholars, Laura Camberos, Education and Empowerment Coordinator, Mujeres Unidas y Activas, Diana Phuong, Executive Director, Braven Bay Area DeJuan Lewis, Director, Defy Ventures-Northern California and Bart Myers, Founder and CEO, Countable.

SV2 Social Impact Book Club

The SV2 Book Club meets monthly to discuss the latest book on their reading list and explore social issues. All SV2 Partners are invited to participate. RSVP by emailing SV2 Partner Paru Desai or contact Paru with questions.

WED. APR. 14 | 11:30AM - 1:30PM

Impact Investing Working Group

The SV2 Impact Investing Working Group discusses prospective impact investment opportunities, hears pitches from social entrepreneurs, and performs due diligence in order to make informed investment recommendations on behalf of SV2. The Working Group is comprised of Partners who are committed to actively participating in all aspects of impact investing, including the due diligence process. All Partners are welcome to begin regularly attending IIWG meetings at any point in the year or are welcome to audit meetings on a drop-in basis.

Reimagining Education Equity in the COVID Recovery | Grant Round Meeting #4

At Meeting #4, Partners will hear presentations from the Executive Directors of the three finalist organizations. This is a great opportunity to hear directly from the leaders as they describe their strategy, impact, financials, and any organizational capacity needs.

David Onek, SV2's CEO, will share how we're advancing our mission by increasing community voice throughout our work, and we'll come together at the end to create a virtual community collage.

Family Philanthropy Interest Circle

The Family Philanthropy Interest Circle is a Partner-led group which provides a safe space to explore personal experiences, successes, and challenges in an ongoing, intimate setting. If you are a current Partner with a family foundation, a donor advised fund, family office, or some other structured family giving vehicle, please join us. This event is for current Partners only, and led by Lisa Guerra and Anjana Patel. Reach out with questions to Lisa Guerra.

  • East Bay Community Foundation, in Partnership with One World Training & Investments

    • East Bay Community Foundation (EBCF) will host their first virtual Inclusive Economy Showcase on April 22nd that will highlight entrepreneurs of color and community-based companies and organizations who are building and shaping an inclusive economy in our region. They are committed to democratizing the flow of capital into the community. The showcase will prioritize the needs and goals of the founders and there will be educational opportunities for all participants. Every applicant will receive feedback, support, and exposure.

  • Working Partnerships USA (WPUSA)

    • Two community health workers who have been going door-to-door in the neighborhoods hit hardest by COVID-19, as well as WPUSA, got profiled in The New York Times — check it out!
