Values-Aligned Investing Workshop

Join ValuesAdvisor’s Kate Simpson and SV2 CEO David Onek for a two-session workshop on Values-Aligned Investing on May 12 and May 19. With a focus on interactive discussion and community building, the workshop will help you better align your investments with your values. You will be guided through a unique, personal reflection journey that incorporates guided meditations with group work and journal writing. The workshop is designed for all levels of expertise, from novice impact investors to experienced practitioners. Key elements include:
  • Explore your money story, the origin of your relationship with money
  • Identify your money mindset and limiting beliefs you may hold about money
  • Determine what is deeply important to you, personally and in the broader world
  • Learn the basics about the impact investing field: the categories of impact and impact examples within each asset class
  • Craft a written “values” investment policy statement

Investing in Climate Solutions | Venture Capital

It is human activity that created the climate crisis and it is human ingenuity that will help us get through it. Venture capital finances innovation, and innovation is needed if we are to keep warming to 1.5 degrees C. Our distinguished panel includes industry experts, all of whom have experience in both the for profit, as well as the non profit, climate investing space. Impact Investing Working Group

The SV2 Impact Investing Working Group discusses prospective impact investment opportunities, hears pitches from social entrepreneurs, and performs due diligence in order to make informed investment recommendations on behalf of SV2. The Working Group is comprised of Partners who are committed to actively participating in all aspects of impact investing, including the due diligence process. All Partners are welcome to begin regularly attending IIWG meetings at any point in the year or are welcome to audit meetings on a drop-in basis.

Climate Justice: Now is our opportunity to make a difference | Partner-Organized Event

Join us and our co-creator, Thrive Alliance, at a "Get Proximate and Beyond" on-site program to hear first-hand of the growing challenges our communities face due to climate and environmental issues. Learn how the effects of climate change, multiplied by historic inequitable planning choices and systemic inequities affect ourselves and our neighbors. Engage with community based organizations (CBOs) who are collaborating to build a better Bay Area together. This is a Partner-organized event run by Jennifer McFarlane and Paul Traina, SV2 Partners.

Meditation Mondays

We are excited to launch Meditation Mondays at SV2 and invite you to join us! We’ll gather every Monday at noon on Zoom, starting March 21st. Each session will include a 10-15 minute gently guided meditation and an optional chat afterwards, ending at 12:30. All are welcome, as are all levels of practice. Whether you are a curious beginner, long time meditator or somewhere in between, this will be a way to gather in community and share the practice of mindful living. Family Philanthropy Interest Circle

The Family Philanthropy Interest Circle is a Partner-led group which provides a safe space to explore giving experiences, successes, and challenges in an ongoing, intimate setting. If you are a current Partner with a family foundation, a donor advised fund, family office, or some other structured family giving vehicle, please join us. Education Equity Grant Round Meeting #4

At Meeting #4, Partners will discuss the five applicant organizations using SV2’s rubric categories (in breakout groups and as a whole group), and make grant decisions. Two organizations will receive 3-year grants of $110,000 each. Note that for this grant decision meeting, Partners must be present at the Zoom meeting to vote.
